Coach Slepian began swimming with the Michiana Marlins-USAA Club team age 8 through college. She accomplished much early on including being a USA Junior National qualifier at age 14, Indiana State Age Group record Holder in 500, 1000, 1650 yd Freestyle events & 800, 1500 meter Freestyle, was ranked Top 10 in the USA as a 13-14 and as a senior,  and ranked 17th in the world in 1500 meter free. She attended the University of Virginia, where she was a distance freestyle specialist, ACC Bronze Medalist, and a Varsity letter winner. She was a two-time Olympic Trial qualifier 1980 and 1984, a USA Swimming Senior National qualifier several times, and she was selected for an Olympic Training Camp 1987 Colorado Springs, CO. After starting a family with husband Mark, Coach Slepian reconnected with her swimming past when her children Sarah, and later Sydney, began swimming with the Barracudas. She became an assistant coach there in 2006, and became Head Coach in 2007 where she continues today. She also now coaches for the SeaDragonS Swimming Club, a USA year round club team based in Hackettstown, NJ where she is primarily responsible for 12 and under age groups with sole responsibility for the 8 and under group, including training and development and motivating swimmers at meets. She is USA Swimming certified.

Coach Soutter
began his swimming career swimming for the Leonia Swim Team in the North Jersey Pool Managers Association conference from 1973-1981. From 1984-1996 he was a swimming instructor, and eventually the Assistant Aquatic Director for the YWCA of Bergen County in Ridgewood, NJ. He became the Girls Varsity Swimming Coach at Paramus Catholic High School in 1994 and the following year started a boys’ team. In 1996 he began coaching at Kittatinny Regional High School in Hampton, NJ as an assistant swimming coach. In 1999 he became the Boys and Girls Head Swimming Coach at Kittatinny, where he continues coaching today. He was recognized by the New Jersey Herald as the “Boys Swimming Coach of the Year” in 2002 and as “All-West Jersey Boys Swimming Coach of the Year” the same year by the New Jersey Star Ledger. In 2008 the NJ Herald recognized him again as the “Girls Swimming Coach of the Year”. In 2004 Coach Soutter founded and coached the Kittatinny Barracudas Swim Team and continues to today.  He began coaching for the Sussex County YMCA Swordfish in 2006, and is certified USA Swimming and ASCA Level 2. He is currently the President of the Wallkill Valley Swim Conference in Sussex County, NJ. He is married to Debra, and has three children Evan, Christopher, and Hannah who are all Barracudas.

Coach VanOsten has been a lifeguard in and around Sussex County including guarding at Kittatinny Regional High School, Head Lifeguard for Lafayette Pond from 2001-2004, and more. In high school, he swam for the Kittatinny Regional High School Swimming Team from 2001-2004. While there, he proved to be a top Backstroker in the SCIL. He was both Team Captain and MVP for the Cougars. He returned in 2007 and began his coaching career as a guest coach for the Cougars. He has been the Head Coach for the KRHS Jr. High Swimming Team since 2008, and joined the Barracudas staff the same year. In November 2008, he joined on as the Assistant Coach for the KRHS Varsity Swim Team. During his first season with the team, the Barracudas were recognized as the Boys’ and Girls’ high-point earners at the Northwest Jersey Swimming Invitational, and were Wallkill Valley Swim Conference Champions.
